Happy President’s Day! Is anyone else sitting on the sofa and doing a little online shopping?! I had big plans for today but this rainstorm has me cozied up on the sofa with my laptop and credit card instead. Thank goodness for all the holiday sales that are going on today, my pocket book sure is thankful! Now, let’s talk Lilly Pulitzer + Starbucks + Swell, shall we?!
I’m sure you all know about the fabulous collaboration between these three brands to create one FABULOUS water bottle. If you have no idea what I’m talking about…then ask yourself, “Have I been living under a rock?” Just kidding!! I’m totally joking about the rock part. If you have no idea what Lilly Pulitzer + Starbucks bottles I’m over here babbling about, don’t worry, you’ll know by the end of the post.
It all started last Friday night when I was browsing Instagram and stumbled upon a picture that looked like a S’well Bottle but with a Lilly Pulitzer print. Could my eyes be playing a trick on me?! Or was it really true?! Naturally, I began searching the Internet for more information about these bottles. To my dismay, I couldn’t find any information about them. I assumed my eyes must have been playing a trick on me. I let it go until Sunday when I decided to do a little more research and found out those bottles were also a collaboration with Starbucks. My eyes weren’t playing tricks after all! That’s all I needed to know to head straight down to my local Starbucks to see if they had them in stock. Off I went in my brightly colored workout leggings and sneakers on this
ridiculous mission to find this bottle. The baristas at Starbucks had no idea what I was talking about. They did tell me that their product display was set to change on the 15th. Did this mean Lilly was coming??? Unfortunately, they didn’t know what the new shipment was going to contain and told me to check back later that week.
Check back later that week……ha! Cleary they didn’t know how persistent I can be. I thought to myself, “No way can I wait until the 15th.” Mainly because once other Lilly lovers knew about these bottles they’d be on the hunt as well and I’d miss my chance. I tried to let it go but 100% failed at doing so. Because you see, once I get fixated on something, I can’t let it go. Would that be considered OCD? I think it might, because I felt completely obsessed with these bottles at this point.
Sooooo… on Monday when the launch was officially announced I was a little bummed to find out that the bottles were only going to be released in 4,000 locations. That’s it?! Great, my chances of finding one just went way down. I literally looked up how many Starbucks locations were in the U.S. to figure out what the probability was that they would make it into an Oakland Starbucks. Thank you college statistics courses for helping me track down water bottles. See kids, you really can apply those courses to real life. Yes, I totally realize that I sound crazy at this point for some darn water bottles. But again, I was hooked and couldn’t stop until I found one.
Since Lilly isn’t quite the craze here in California as it is in other parts of the country, I assumed that the bottles probably weren’t going to be at very many locations. I was hopeful that Oakland would make the list since it is a large metropolitan area. I was also hopeful that they wouldn’t sell out considering it’s not exactly the most preppy town in America.
Alas, Monday morning at 10am when my new friend, Amy Beth texted me asking if I “was at “our” Starbucks yesterday searching for these bottles?” I say “our” Starbucks because we live in the same neighborhood. We connected thanks to Instagram after following one another for awhile. What a small world, right?!
It’s such a delight to have found a friend that shares so many of the same interests as me, including blogging, and that is sweet as a peach in my neighborhood! Oh and someone that it willing to share in your craziness of hunting down something so silly as a water bottle. This is the start to a wonderful friendship! Our neighborhood is filled with hipster coffee shops and restaurants where the people that frequent them don’t have quite the same style as I do, to say the least. It’s nice to not be the only person walking in decked out in pink, one too many accessories (but can you really have too many), and bright pink lip gloss. It’s truly is like finding a rare gem!
Just to be clear, I totally love those hipster restaurants and coffee shops, and so many other things in Oakland! It’s just my personal style that doesn’t always fit it that well. If you’ve watched my Snapchat then you’ve totally seen me go into the coffee shop down the street in my bright clothes to find that everyone in there is literally wearing all black. Talk about a fish out of the water. Their vanilla latte is superb though, so I still go on the regular.
Back to the story…We made a pact that if we found the bottles we would pick one up for the other. Two people on the search is better than one. I was getting ready to enlist poor Ryan on this search, but thankfully, he was spared thanks to Amy Beth. She is happens to be just as persistent as I am so we were confident that we’d be able to snag a bottle for the both of us. You can read how the rest of this story panned our here because Amy Beth is “da real MVP” in this story.
Whew…that was a lot about a water bottle. I think if you’re a Lilly fan then you totally understand the craziness. If you’re not a Lilly fan then now you have an idea on just how crazy people go over Lilly.
Amy Beth and I are collaborating on something fun that involves our girl, Lilly. Check back on the blog and Instagram later this week for more details!
Hope you all are staying dry and enjoying the long weekend!
SHOP this Valentine’s Day Gift Guide:
Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite
Hallmark Holidays! It’s such a breath of fresh air after such a dreary filled January. I don’t know about you all, but I can use some serious color and candy in my life after a month filled of getting my life together. February is basically an entire month dedicated to pink, roses, and candy, and I LOVE it! I mean what more can a girl want? Valentine’s Day isn’t just for all those gals whose relationship status is taken either. All my single gals out there… buy your own self something pretty and for your best gal pals too. I know I’ll be buying myself a thing or two from this list!
This Valentine’s Day Gift Guide is basically my wishlist of all the things I’m currently swooning over. Mr. Pizante, if you’re reading this… then I’d really love that bracelet at the top of the gift guide. <—-That couldn’t have been more obvious could it?! I’m planning to do an entirely separate post on the silk pillowcase and Mason Pearson Hairbrush in the near future because they are that GOOD!
Those earrings are from the new BaubleBar Target collaboration…I could do a whole guide on just my favorite jewelry pieces from that collection. I seriously love it all! Have you ever stumbled upon a pair of shoes and knew you just had to have them?! These pink loafers were love at first sight for me. I have no idea what the candle smells like but the container is just so darling that it almost doesn’t even matter what it smells like.
I hope you all feel inspired to buy your own self something pretty this month, whether for Valentine’s Day or just because! You deserve it, Girlfriend!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas day celebrating with family and friends!! Mine was filled with family, delicious food, Christmas music, and a gorgeous dinner table. It truly was a magical day! The day after Christmas is one of my favorite days of the season. I spend it eating leftovers, recovering from all the festive activities that Christmas Eve and Christmas Day bring while sipping pomegranate mimosas and online shopping. It also happens to be one of my favorite days because it yields itself to some really great sales….mainly The Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite items from the sale that I either already purchased and love or are currently coveting myself.
Happy Shopping, Lovelies!!
On the 9th day of Christmas my true love gave to me…a gift guide with fabulous goodies all under $50.
I don’t know about you but I can’t believe that this is the last weekend before Christmas! That means it’s also the last weekend to shop before Christmas…..anyone else just have an anxiety attack after realizing that too?! I’m not even halfway through my shopping list which means I have to crank it all out this weekend, yikes! I’m not one who loves shopping with huge crowds and chaos so I do as much online shopping as possible. For all you last minute shoppers like me who are looking for a great gift at a reasonable price then this gift guide is for you.
I’m totally in love with this gift guide because I own everything on it and LOVE all these products. All of these make for a great gift for anyone on your list; friends, family, co-workers (maybe not the males in your life though, he he). Did I mention everything is all under $50?!
That electric wine opener was actually a gag gift that my father-in-law gave my husband but I LOVE it! It’s so easy to use. Those Restoration Hardware blankets…..I guarantee you’ve never felt a softer blanket. If you haven’t already read Emily Ley’s book then you should. It was such a great book and really helped change my mindset about life and self care. I could not recommend it more! Candlefish makes some of the BEST smelling candles that I’ve purchased. I discovered them on our Charleston trip and love No. 68 and No.83.
I could go on and on about all of these gifts but will spare you and not waste your valuable shopping time. No matter your pick, you and your recipient are sure to love these gifts.
