Our wedding day was seriously the best day ever! There aren’t too many occasions in your life when you are able to have all your closest friends and family members in one place to celebrate you and your love. The love and warmth that encompassed our entire wedding day is something that I almost can’t even describe because there doesn’t seem to be a perfect enough word. I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I’m enjoy sharing them with you.
Can we talk about my shoes….I’ve been in love with these sparkling beauties since the day Kate Spade came out with them. I’m not even joking! I thought about buying them years ago to save for my wedding day because I was convinced they’d be long gone by the time I ever got married. I was half way right, the shoes were sold out when we first got engaged but ended up being back in stock around Christmastime. I like to think it’s all the letters I wrote to Kate Spade about bringing them back…. and yes, I really did do that (insert eye covering monkey emoji here).
I didn’t really want a ton of pictures of us getting ready so I had the photographer come about an hour before we had to leave the hotel. This gave us the chance to have our hair and make-up done by the time she arrived so that we could get a few good detail shots.
You know you’re marrying the right guy when he knows you’d much prefer a handbag as a wedding present instead of a piece of jewelry. He even thought it could be my “something blue” and picked out a beautiful turquoise bag from Coach.
The wallpaper of boat paddles….I would 100% be lying if I told you I hadn’t thought about booking a different hotel because of that wall. I envisioned all the getting ready photos in a white and airy room. Needless to say, this wall was just not tickling my fancy. Buttttt, because it was only about a mile away from the venue and a nice hotel it was the best option for our day.
First look pictures…I feel like people either love the idea or hate it. We knew that we wanted to have first look pictures done because we loved the idea of having an extra opportunity for more pictures. Neither one of us had any idea how emotional and wonderful those pictures were going to end up being. They allowed for both Ryan and I to experience all the emotions of seeing each other for the first time on our wedding day with just the two of us (and our wedding party as paparazzi that also ended up being there to see the first look). So if you’re torn on whether or not you should do them, I say do it! Fun fact, we now live up the street from where we took these pictures and it makes me so happy every time I walk by.
